About the Presenters
Melanie Janzen is the Curriculum Coordinator, Secondary Mathematics with San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools. She specializes in helping students make critical connections within mathematics. With 28 years of experience spanning teacher, coach, administrator, and curriculum specialist, Melanie advocates for access for all students to achieve mathematics at high levels.
Ki Karou is the Director of Product, ST Math at MIND Education. Ki leads a team of content designers, artists, and mathematicians building the next generation of ST Math—including innovative classroom solutions. He previously served as a game and learning designer. Before joining MIND, he founded Beyond Math, a tutoring and academic coaching service based in Los Angeles. Ki has spoken at SXSW EDU and written articles published in the Huffington Post. He has a bachelor’s in engineering from the University of California, Berkeley.
