In this edWebinar, Dr. Adam Holland, author and Implementation Specialist at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, talks about how to prevent and address challenging behaviors in the classroom. Using motivation as a framework, viewers learn how to reduce challenging behavior by building stronger relationships, improving children’s abilities, and making simple changes to the classroom environment.

Dr. Holland’s presentation, filled with humor and stories from his own time in the classroom, provides tips and tricks that teachers can immediately apply in their spaces while also helping them understand why they work, equipping them to meet new challenges in the future as well. About the Presenter

Adam Holland, Ph.D., is an Implementation Specialist at the Frank Porter Graham Child Development Institute at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. A former preschool and elementary teacher, Dr. Holland is the Chair Emeritus of the International Early Childhood Inclusion Institute and currently works on the U.S. Department of Education-funded STEM Innovation for Inclusion in Early Education center and projects funded by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, focused on improving outcomes for young children and their families. His areas of interest include challenging behaviors, progressions-based pedagogies, and implementation science. In his spare time, Dr. Holland enjoys napping and forgetting why he walked into a room. His first book, Thinking Outside the Prize Box: Navigating Challenging Behaviors in Today’s Classroom, comes out September 1st.
