This edWebinar outlines a guide to effective behavior planning for intense challenges. Angela Searcy, Ed.D. discusses effective but practical functional assessment tools designed for educators BY educators. She will also outline each phase of the process, what to expect, and what tools support a continuous cycle of each step:

  1. Self-reflection and identification of implicit bias
  2. Context analysis
  3. Identification of prevention strategies
  4. Replacement skills
  5. New responses
  6. Reviewing the results

Dr. Searcy also explains the structure that supports good behavior planning from all adults including parents and staff members. This presentation will be of interest to preK-3 teachers and school and district leaders, and will outline tools to help educators MATCH a strategy to their unique students and program and WORK the strategy when it’s not working!

About the Presenter

Dr. Angela Searcy holds a B.A. degree in English and secondary education with teacher certification through the state of Illinois, and an M.S. degree in early childhood development from Erikson Institute, with a specialization in infant studies. She also has a doctorate in education with a specialization in assessment and response to intervention. Her research revolves around brain-based learning as assessed by CLASS and its correlation to aggressive behaviors in preschool children. Angela, who began as educator in 1990, is the owner and founder of Simple Solutions Educational Services, and has experience at all levels of education. She is currently a seminar leader and continuing education instructor at Erikson Institute, a professional development provider for Teaching Strategies, LLC, a Teachstone Affiliate Trainer, a member of the Classroom Assessment Scoring System CLASS Community Advisory Board, and an author for Gryphon House Publishing. A former neuro-developmental specialist, Angela has specialized training in neuroscience and is a nationally recognized speaker. She has been featured on Chicago’s WGN Channel 9 News, Chicago Public Radio’s Chicago Matters, Chicago Parent and Chicago Baby Magazines.
