What happens when we move beyond using AI as a tool and begin designing with it? This edWebinar supports educators in shifting from using AI as a prompting tool to designing intentional, student-centered learning ecosystems that integrate AI in meaningful ways.
Viewers:
- Understand the difference between using AI and designing with AI
- Explore how AI can support agency, creativity, and deeper learning
- Identify the role of the human in the loop when integrating AI
- Learn practical strategies from educators implementing AI-supported learning experiences
The session begins by framing how teaching and learning transform when educators move beyond isolated AI use toward ecosystem design. A panel of educators share real classroom examples of AI-supported student design challenges, highlighting both successes and ongoing tensions. Discussion focuses on how AI can be leveraged to support inquiry, creativity, and problem solving while maintaining strong human guidance and intentionality.
Viewers leave with concrete ideas for integrating AI into their own contexts, a clearer understanding of how to design learning experiences that go beyond prompting, and practical insights from educators actively doing this work. Viewers also gain language and strategies to ensure AI enhances, rather than replaces, human creativity, connection, and decision making.
This recorded edWebinar is of interest to PreK-12 teachers, librarians, school leaders, district leaders, and education technology leaders.

About the Presenters
Kimberly Niebauer is a teacher with 26 years of service in Duval County Public Schools, where she inspires K–5 students through STEM‑focused, hands‑on learning. She was a Top 5 Finalist for the 2025 VyStar Duval County Teacher of the Year. Kimberly is also an HP Teaching Fellow and is globally recognized for her leadership in educational technology for Microsoft and Minecraft Education. In 2024, she was named one of EdTech Magazine’s “30 K–12 IT Influencers to Follow” for her impactful work in the classroom. She currently teaches gifted education at Loretto Elementary, sponsors two after‑school clubs, and is passionate about expanding educational opportunities that spark curiosity, confidence, and creativity in every student she serves.

Aynul Dean teaches sixth-grade English and mathematics and occasionally supports high school students in physics and chemistry. She coaches her school’s robotics teams and enjoys introducing her students to hands-on technology experiences. While she doesn’t come from a technical background, she continues to learn alongside her students, using electronics kits, online resources, and tutorials. She values accessibility in education and is grateful for tools like generative AI that support curiosity and lifelong learning.

Kelly McNeil, Ed.D., is a Senior Learning Experience Designer at Digital Promise, where she designs and facilitates professional learning at the intersection of AI, games, and emerging technologies in education. Her work focuses on helping educators move beyond tool use to designing meaningful, human-centered learning experiences that foster agency, curiosity, and connection. Dr. McNeil specializes in playful professional learning and supports educator communities in exploring how AI can enhance, rather than replace, teaching and creativity. Her research examines how co-designed, immersive learning experiences influence educator beliefs and practices, with a focus on learner variability and inclusive design. She has led national initiatives, facilitated educator networks, and presented at conferences including ISTE, FETC, and SXSW EDU. Dr. McNeil is passionate about elevating educator voice and bridging research and practice in evolving learning ecosystems.
