Teaching well with manipulatives means helping learners connect concrete representations with more abstract ways of presenting mathematics. This four-part series of webinars examines strategies for transitioning from manipulative-based mathematics to using abstract representations such as algorithms.
In this first webinar of the series, Dr. Sara Delano Moore shared strategies to support students transitioning from base ten blocks to algorithms when adding and subtracting whole numbers and decimals.
