Women’s history is American history, and women musicians have played a vital role in shaping it. From Aretha Franklin’s powerful anthem “Respect,” which became a rallying cry for both women’s and civil rights, to Margo Price’s thought-provoking song “Pay Gap,” which highlights gender-based wage disparity, women in music have been at the forefront of social change, using their artistry and activism to make a lasting impact.
View this recorded edWebinar with TeachRock for a media-rich exploration of the first, second, and third waves of the women’s rights movement and a discussion of how music has amplified women’s voices throughout history, inspiring change and shaping cultural movements. This session equips educators with lessons and free resources to connect music and women’s history in their classrooms using TeachRock’s CNN Soundtracks: Songs That Defined History lesson collection.
This edWebinar is of interest to middle and high school teachers, librarians, school leaders, and district leaders.
