David WisnieskiAbout the Presenters

David Wisnieski has worked as a classroom teacher, informal educator, and instructional designer. He currently teaches biology at the Latin School of Chicago and previously taught science courses at Bronx Science High School and the American Museum of Natural History in New York City and St. Johnsbury, Jeju in South Korea. As a producer at WNET, New York City Public Media, he created educational resources for programs such as SciTech Now and NATURE and the history game Mission US.

 

Andy ZimmermannAndy Zimmermann is a middle school science teacher and curriculum designer with 9+ years’ experience in Title I New York City Public Schools. Andy strives to create learning experiences for his students that are relevant, authentic and meaningful on a personal level. Using place-based, project-based and field-based approaches to learning, along with many forms of media in the classroom, he brings his passion for environmental stewardship and species conservation into the classroom so that students may see themselves as active agents of change and stewards of their local communities

 

KJ VanderietAbout the Moderator

KJ Vanderiet is a former educator with a passion for educational development. She is a former AmeriCorps VISTA and Peace Corps Volunteer and has worked with NYU’s Teaching and Learning Department to research and develop curricula in NYC public schools. As an associate content producer at The WNET Group, KJ helps create resources that help teachers effectively use media in the classroom.
