In this edWebinar, learn how the Vancouver Public Schools Future Ready Admin initiative builds principal capacity in digital transformation, providing personalized professional development to building leaders and engaging in problems of practice for building leadership. Discover how the district conceived, designed, and implemented this project applying the Future Ready Schools initiative at the Alliance for Excellent Education and ISTE Administrator Standards into their practice.

About the Presenters
Zach Desjarlais is currently the director of instructional technology for Vancouver Public Schools in Washington. He is both an organizational and thought leader in his district and recent recipient of the CoSN NextGeneration Leader award. His participation in a Learning Counsel event led to district recognition for VPS’s systemic leadership. He is currently working with Apple, Instructure, the Friday Institute, Learning Counsel and other organizations to build authentic partnerships to support his district’s work. Zach co-led a successful district-wide implementation of Canvas and advocated for greater use of Google Apps and cloud-based productivity by students and teachers. He currently co-leads a Future Ready Administrators principal team to foster professional learning and he is working with the director of curriculum to define a blended and personalized learning framework to help implement digital content and services. Zach was recently appointed to the advisory board for Future Ready Principals with the Alliance for Excellent Education.
Sally Kroon is an instructional technology facilitator for Vancouver Public Schools in Washington. She promotes innovative teaching and learning practices, supporting teachers, district leaders, and administrators in leveraging technology to improve and transform teaching and learning. Sally has extensive experience designing and leading professional development, and since its inception has facilitated the VPS weLearn 1:1 professional learning initiative. She currently co-leads a Future Ready Administrators principal team that fosters professional learning for district administrators. A National Board Certified teacher, Sally has previously been a new educator mentor teacher and a middle level classroom teacher for 16 years.
About the Host
As a research associate at Digital Promise, Sierra Noakes focuses on building districts’ and educators’ capacity to make evidence-based decisions around innovative programs and practices. In addition to conducting and supporting edtech pilot studies in collaboration with districts across the country, Sierra is also working on research projects studying technology integration to support low-resourced K-12 students and adult learners. Prior to joining Digital Promise, Sierra was an applied behavior analysis instructor and curriculum coordinator at an autism center in New York. While working on her master’s in education policy and management from Harvard Graduate School of Education, she also served as project manager and policy analyst for a nonprofit creating hybrid academic and SEL courses for students with dyslexia and ADHD. Sierra received her B.A. in government from Claremont McKenna College.
