Engaging children with traditional approaches in education, especially reading, grows ever more difficult in the face of their attachment to tablets and computer games. In this edWebinar, Dr. Bob Elwell, Director of School Partnerships for Square Panda, presents research findings of reading interventions that include visual and haptic exploration of phonemes, letters, and words via interactive tactile learning games, reading apps and tablet devices. These intervention results provide evidence that haptic effects have the potential to improve children’s reading experiences and abilities, while also making them more memorable.

Explore the use of interactive tactile learning games, tablet devices, instructional reading apps, a reading game playset, and explicit phonemic awareness and phonics instruction—all augmented with haptic smart letters. Pre-K through elementary teachers, school and district leaders, literacy specialists, SPED educators, and Title 1 staff and admin for pre-K will benefit from watching this recorded session.
