In the first three edWebinars of the Closing the Attendance Impact Gap series, we explored the attendance paradox, the true cost of chronic absence, and the critical role belonging plays in helping students return and stay connected to school. In this final session, we bring those ideas together into a practical framework districts can use to strengthen and complete their attendance systems.
Many districts have built strong attendance structures, yet gaps remain, particularly in prevention, connection during absence, and return-to-stay planning. This edWebinar introduces a modern attendance systems framework designed to help schools move beyond reactive interventions toward sustainable, belonging-centered systems of support.
Attendees will examine five essential components of a comprehensive attendance system, including prevention, early intervention, intensive support, continuity during absence, and intentional return-to-stay planning. The session will also introduce a district attendance systems self-assessment tool that leadership teams can use to identify strengths, uncover gaps, and prioritize next steps.
Attendees will:
- Understand the core components of a modern attendance system
- Identify common gaps that limit attendance impact
- Explore practical strategies to strengthen belonging, connection, and continuity
Attendees will leave with actionable ideas and tools to help build stronger attendance systems that improve outcomes for students, schools, and communities. This edWebinar will be of interest to teachers, school leaders, and district leaders of all grade levels.
