In today’s digital world, a significant portion of the teaching/learning process takes place online. Teachers and administrators who are not investigating learning analytics—data produced through online learning—are missing an outstanding opportunity to improve instruction and promote student reflection. However, teachers are currently lacking quick access to students’ activity during online research, suggesting the need for effective tools to navigate student learning analytics.

In this edWebinar, viewers sign off with an understanding of the value of learner analytics and how they can be used to guide online instruction using a free, innovative tool for illuminating students’ online research, Learnics. Education stakeholders are invited to watch this session to receive a brief overview of the importance of learning analytics, provided by a demonstration of the user-friendly tool. Viewers walk away with a pre-packaged demo lesson to use in their classrooms or share with an educational audience.

This recorded edWebinar is of interest to middle and high school teachers, librarians, school and district leaders, and education technology leaders.

LearnicsLearnics Student Link and Learnics Teacher Link are free Google Chrome Extensions that allow students to capture and submit a record of their online learning experience to their teachers as part of an assignment, making the process as important as the final product. This record of online activity allows teachers to analyze how students conduct online research, identify students in need of support, and improve the design of their lessons while also allowing students to reflect upon their approach to the assignment. The goal of Learnics is to support, improve, and transform student online learning experiences, and add intentionality to their online behaviors. Whether the instruction is virtual, hybrid, flipped, or blended, Learnics provides teachers with feedback to support the online learning process, and allows students to reflect on their research.
