Kathleen SheehyAbout the Presenters

As the Director of Professional Development for Amplify Math, Kathleen Sheehy is committed to supporting teachers in their work to create joyful and powerful learning experiences for all students. Kathleen began her career in the District of Columbia Public Schools, where she was the 2008 DC Teacher of the Year and the recipient of the Rubenstein Award for Highly Effective Instructional Coaching. She is currently pursuing her EdD with a focus on studying what best enables teachers to shift to inquiry-based models of instruction in math.

 

Sean NankSean Nank is a Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching recipient, professor, consultant, author, math teacher, and facilitator. Sean’s work includes working with multiple state and federal agencies, including the US Department of Education and National Science Foundation. In addition to serving on several mathematical boards, Sean is the president of the Greater San Diego Mathematics Council. His current research includes creating equitable space for ALL student voices while integrating students’ passions into K-12 classrooms via technology, curricula, and instructional routines.
