To promote equity in the classroom, we must recognize the individuality and uniqueness of students. By relating a mathematician to something familiar to the student, they will engineer a stronger connection to that person. In this edWebinar, learn how we can inspire our students to see mathematicians as role models and as a potential future career option.

About the Presenter
Sara Hinsley has a bachelor’s in mathematics from PLNU and a Master of Arts in Teaching from UNC-Chapel Hill. After teaching high school for 6 years, she moved into curriculum development, specifically in educational technology. In 2018, she joined DreamBox Learning, a K-8 intelligently adaptive math software (www.dreambox.com), as a curriculum designer. Previously, Sara worked at IXL Learning and SAS Curriculum Pathways creating digital skills or lessons for every grade from elementary to high school.
About the Host
Peter Kruger serves as the director of product marketing at DreamBox and has spent most of his career pursuing a passion for personalized learning and education technology. Prior to DreamBox, Peter worked at Amplify when it was called Wireless Generation, SMART, and Microsoft. Peter holds an M.B.A. from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth and when he’s not focusing on education, he can be found doing photography, gardening with conifers, or hiking with his wife and dog.
