How do you know when your students really understand the assignment? If you ask a math teacher, they will likely tell you that they can actually see how much a student knows on a given topic when the student shows their work. Lately, it seems like all the buzz is around how artificial intelligence engines, like ChatGPT, can be used by students to fake an assignment. In this edWebinar, the presenters discuss how educators can engage students with mind mapping—a research-based, thoughtful writing process that stops plagiarism in its tracks.
This edWebinar discusses and demonstrate how mind mapping can be a vehicle for promoting the ethical use of ChatGPT in any project or assignment. Mind mapping is a way to document the process of planning and organizing any assignment using technology tools. Mind mapping, by design, supports the access of both sides of the brain for more creative, imaginative, yet structured writing. The culminating exercise of this session is to use this mind-mapping process to examine the advantages of ChatGPT in education. Audience participation is a vital part of this collaborative endeavor.
This edWebinar is of interest to K-12 teachers, librarians, school and district leaders, and education technology leaders.
