Kathy Rhea BumgardnerAbout the Presenter

Kathy Rhea Bumgardner is a veteran educator with almost four decades as a dedicated educator, classroom teacher, literacy coach, instructional specialist, professor, and educational author with McGraw Hill Education. She is a passionate, lifelong learner and presenter who works to combine the Science of Reading instructional best practices and “real-world” implementation of teaching our students the components of what the Simple View of Reading defines as successful. Most recently, she has continued to conduct lessons in many classrooms with in-person, hybrid, and online scenarios while planning with and coaching teachers across the country during its most challenging times ever. She strives to support teachers with the overwhelming challenges that they face today in preparing students to become empowered and capable learners who are able to reach their highest potentials!

 

Joanna LewisAbout the Moderator

Joanna Lewis has worked at McGraw Hill as a literacy specialist since 2015. In her current role as the senior literacy product marketing manager for the Digital Acceleration Group, Joanna supports the intersection of product development, marketing, and sales. Before her role with supplemental literacy, Joanna was a senior curriculum specialist focusing on PreK–12 literacy. As a literacy specialist, Joanna worked closely with district leaders, school administrators, specialists, and teachers to provide print and digital literacy solutions for improved instruction and student achievement. Prior to joining McGraw Hill, Joanna worked for 19 years in education as a reading specialist, technology integration teacher, and classroom teacher. She received her Master of Science in Education, Reading Specialist and a Certificate in Administration and Supervision from the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland.
