If teachers are confused by assessments – think about the students! Harder text, more complex questions, increased writing requirements! Half of all students who took online assessments in Spring 2015 noted that the tests were not aligned to what they learned in the classrooms. How can students succeed on assessments when they don’t even understand the questions?
Help is on the way. In this research-driven presentation, Kevin Baird, Chairman at the nonprofit Center for College & Career Readiness, presented a practical, pragmatic five-step routine any teacher in any grade and any subject can use to help students make sense of assessment questions.
As spring assessments loom for teachers and students, Mr. Baird presented key routines which have an immediate impact on student comprehension in English Language Arts, Science, Social Studies and Math.
