Computer science (CS) is for everyone. In this edWebinar, we explain the “what” and share the “why” of integrating CS into school districts, focusing on the transformative impact it has on students. You gain insights into the mission and vision of BootUp PD, whose aim is to prepare and empower teachers to implement elementary coding and computer science programs nationwide, ensuring equitable access to essential 21st-century skills. Becky Hansen

About the Presenters

Becky Hansen is an energetic and passionate technology integration coach and presenter. She brings her computer science experience and love of technology to help find innovative and standards-based learning activities for her teachers. Becky earned her M.Ed. in curriculum and instruction with a focus on distance learning and online education from Dallas Baptist University and holds various certifications, including the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) certification. She has written and helped establish an elementary computer science school of choice program. Becky works with BootUp PD to prepare and empower teachers to implement elementary coding and computer science programs nationwide, creating equitable access to 21st-century skills.

Suzanne Carlson

Suzanne Carlson is the Director of Business Development at BootUp PD, a non-profit organization that prepares and empowers teachers to implement elementary computer science programs nationwide. With over a decade of experience in education, sales, marketing, and nonprofits, Suzanne began her career in broadcast promotions and marketing, developing plans for the Kansas City Chiefs Radio Network. Her career path led her to spend over 10 years as a classroom teacher, including roles as a high school marketing teacher and developer of a K-8 computer curriculum. Recently, Suzanne has worked in sales within the education and software fields. Her passion for education and delivering learning opportunities aligns with her role at BootUp PD. Additionally, Suzanne has developed programming for career development and financial literacy for students. She holds a double major in marketing and business education from Southern New Hampshire University.

The Educating All Learners Alliance (EALA)

The Educating All Learners Alliance (EALA) is an uncommon coalition of organizations committed to resource sharing and community-building that supports the efforts of the education community to meet the needs of students with disabilities or learning differences. The Alliance represents voices from a diverse range of communities, including disability advocacy, parent, special education, civil rights, and K-12 nonprofit education organizations. EALA leads the development of a Resource Library, Tech Tool Library, events, podcasts, and working groups in order to bring awareness to the challenges and opportunities surrounding students with disabilities in K12 education, and how we can best support them.
