About the Presenter
Dr. Sarah Garrity is Associate Professor in the Child and Family Development Department at San Diego State University (SDSU). Prior to coming to SDSU, she was a preschool teacher and has extensive experience working in programs serving young children and their families as administrator, coach, and consultant. Her research involves the exploration of how best practices are implemented in the field, with a focus on continuity of care, teacher beliefs, and how high-quality behavior guidance policies can support children’s social-emotional and academic competence. Dr. Garrity has presented at local, national, and international conferences on the topics of social-emotional development and behavior guidance policies, and teach courses in early childhood education. She is committed to exploring the socio-cultural and linguistic contexts in which teaching and learning take place and identifying policies and practices that improve educational outcomes for at-risk and underserved children and families.
