Watch Julie Collison, M.Ed., Transition Coordinator and Middle School/High School Supervisor at Monarch Center for Autism; and Rachel Lloyd, M.S.Ed., Transition Education Program Director at Monarch Center for Autism, in this transition planning edWebinar which focuses on creating transition-driven, person-centered IEPs. The transition process begins earlier than one may think. Gain an understanding of how to write transition- and person-centered IEPs with an in-depth look at transition sections of the IEP, as well as how to create future planning statements as an IEP team. Viewers will also learn which agencies to involve in transition planning and when to involve them.

The language of transition planning and IEPs differ from state to state, and sometimes from county to county. This training will be as general as possible to address the needs of all participants. Topics include:

  • When does the transition process begin?
  • What should a transition-focused IEP look like?
  • What does it mean to write a person-centered IEP?
  • Writing a person-centered IEP for students with more significant needs.
  • An in-depth look at transition sections of an IEP.
  • Which agencies should be involved in transition planning?
  • When should agencies become involved and begin attending IEP meetings?

Educators, therapists, administrators, and paraprofessionals will benefit from this recorded session. This presentation is a follow-up to an edWebinar entitled “Navigating the Transition into Adult Services,” presented by Julie Collison, M.Ed., in January 2017. View an archived recording of that edWebinar.
