An effective MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Supports) program has been proven to lead to a positive school environment, higher academic achievement, and reduced behavior interventions, but students cannot benefit from known effective practices they do not receive. Taking a scientific approach to implementation can produce robust, usable knowledge that educators can leverage to strategically undertake implementation to achieve meaningful changes in student outcomes.

Megan Gruis has a passion for and expertise in training and coaching school teams around school improvement, social-emotional learning, and developing a positive, safe, and nurturing school environment. As Executive Director of Customized Implementation Supports at CharacterStrong, her work includes building out consultative services, products, and supports that aid school systems in successfully implementing programming to improve student outcomes. Her team empowers school districts across the country with implementation knowledge and methods to build and sustain equitable, tiered service delivery models. Social-emotional-behavioral-academic frameworks to support adults to deliver practices with fidelity and thus improving student outcomes of interest.


Paul Procopio is a senior account director with Panorama Education. He lives social-emotional learning practices in how he coaches youth baseball—teaching young people the mental approach to adversity that goes beyond baseball, into life!
