Supporting All Learners

inclusive educationJessica Reighard, Marketing Director for Brookes Publishing, and Lisa Schmucki, founder and CEO of edWeb.net, were interviewed on Education Talk Radio by program host Larry Jacobs.

Brookes Publishing has just launched a new community on edWeb.net, Teaching All Students: Practical Strategies for Inclusive Classrooms, to provide a space for school professionals to discover and share practical strategies for inclusive classrooms.

In the interview, Jessica Reighard discusses how teachers are teaching students with all kinds of learning, social, emotional, and developmental learning. Their research shows that today’s schools are becoming more and more inclusive, welcoming students with a wide variety of backgrounds and ability levels. As we build classroom communities where every child learns and belongs, teachers must be prepared to meet the diverse learning needs of all their students, with and without disabilities.

Brookes Publishing’s community on edWeb will feature free webinars by top experts and an interactive forum to help teachers address the academic and social-emotional development of all students in their inclusive classrooms.

There is a huge desire by teachers to want to help their students. Teachers may know that a modification is needed but not know how to do it. How to plan it. What’s working. The community is going to help with that.

The first webinar on February 23rd will be:

How to Build and Lead a High Quality Preschool Inclusion Program
Presented by Dr. Erin Barton, Assistant Professor in the Department of Special Education at Vanderbilt University; and Dr. Barbara J. Smith, Research Professor, Director of the Center for Evidence-Based Practice in Early Learning School of Education and Human Development, University of Colorado Denver.
