ORIGO Education Hosts Free Webinar on edWeb.net About Visual and Concrete Math Models for Pre-K—6 Math

Square logoORIGO Education is offering a live stream education seminar, Making the Most of Math Models, May 10 at 3:00 p.m. EDT on edWeb.net. The edWebinar will help teachers use meaningful visual and concrete math models to support coherent content progressions in mathematics across grade levels. ORIGO president and co-founder, James Burnett, will introduce four visual models often used in grades Pre-K–6 and lead a discussion about the benefits of using the array/area model for developing multiplication facts. He will also show how the thinking can be extended through grade levels.

This free edWebinar is the second hosted by ORIGO Education in the professional learning community, Mathematics for Young Learners, launched on edWeb in March 2017. The first webinar, Early Number Concepts, aired April 26, 2017 and is recorded for viewing. edWeb.net is a popular web community for professional development and networking among Pre-K–12 and post-secondary educators. The Mathematics for Young Learners community combines the dedication of ORIGO to inspire and empower mathematics programs with edWeb’s commitment to providing valuable resources for educators.

“We are delighted to launch a new community with ORIGO to support early learning in math. Our early learning programs are our most popular, which is wonderful that early learning educators are so interested in improving their practice to help the youngest students get off to a good start,” said Lisa Schmucki, founder and CEO of edWeb.

Educators may earn CE certificates from edWeb for participating in live sessions, and can take CE quizzes to earn certificates for watching recorded edWebinars. Educators may join the community to watch previously recorded sessions and receive updates about upcoming educational opportunities.
