Media Manager, Mediator and Mentor: Key Roles for Educators in the Multi-Screen, Multi-Touch Digital World
In the first PreK – 3 Digital Learning on edWeb.net, presenter Chip Donohue identified common concerns about young children and technology. He highlighted the benefits when educators select, use and integrate technology in ways that support healthy development and early learning. He describe d three key digital age roles for educators – media Manager, Mediator and Mentor . He explained that these can help early childhood educators, informal educators, parents and families establish a healthy media diet for young children, as well create a positive media ecology in the classroom and at home to support digital age “wellness” for young children. This webinar is presented by Chip Donohue, PhD, Dean of Distance Learning and Continuing Education at Erikson Institute, and Senior Fellow of the Fred Rogers Center for Early Learning and Children’s Media.
