About the Community
Using Technology for Language Instruction is an online community where educators can collaborate on how to prepare students to succeed as global citizens and to expand their horizons. Our PLC provides a place to explore all aspects of using technology to improve both world language learning and English language learning of English Language Learners (ELLs). We’ll share insight, answers and encouragement to help you use today’s technology solutions to support the growing need for students to acquire language skills.

In our community’s series of free webinars, you’ll hear from leading experts—including peers—in language learning instruction, who will provide insights, instruction, and ideas on the most current ways to use technology to teach both world language learners as well as ELLs. You’ll be able to actively collaborate with other educators during these live sessions though an interactive online chat.

About the Presenters
Dr. Bernadette B. Musetti is an Associate Professor and the Director of Liberal Studies at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, CA.  She is a long time K-12 teacher and teacher educator, having taught in the U.S. and in Mexico. Bernadette was one of the founding Co-Directors of the Center for Latino Achievement and Success in Education at the University of Georgia. She also worked for many years consulting, teaching in and designing specialized language and content programs in International Education at the college level.

Dr. Maria Montalvo-Balbed is the ESOL Director for Metropolitan Regional Educational Service in Atlanta, GA.  She has a long history with English Learners both as a student and as a teacher. She has held numerous administrative positions both in schools and district central offices. Maria currently conducts professional development in the areas of culturally relevant education for linguistically and culturally diverse populations.
