The current emphasis on active shooter response rather than an all-hazards, preventative approach to violence in schools results in unintended consequences which negatively impact school communities.
In this edWebinar, Dr. Amy Klinger and Amanda Klinger of The Educator’s School Safety Network will explore the implications of student surveillance instead of support, “security theater” instead of actual safety, and intimidating or traumatizing instead of empowering teachers and students. Strategies for effective violence prevention and response that improve a school’s culture, student engagement, and academic achievement will be explored.
This edWebinar is essential for school and district leaders, and communications and safety and security professionals, as well as any educator concerned about school safety.
