In this edWebinar, educators learn how to use news literacy methodology to recognize and rate bias and reliability in the news and “news-like” content. During this hands-on session, viewers practice diplomatically dealing with sensitive political topics while maintaining objectivity. Educators leave the session ready to implement a news literacy curriculum in their classrooms.
This recorded edWebinar is of interest to teachers, librarians, school and district leaders, and education technology leaders of the middle school, high school, and adult education levels.

Ad Fontes Media, Inc. is a company founded in 2018 by Vanessa Otero, creator of the Media Bias Chart®. The mission of Ad Fontes Media is to rate all the news to positively transform society. We rate the news for reliability and bias to help people navigate the news landscape. Ad Fontes is Latin for “to the source,” because at the heart of what Ad Fontes Media does is look at the source—analyze the very content itself—to rate it. We have created a system of news content ratings that has beneficial applications for all stakeholders in a healthy news media landscape, including consumers, educators, publishers, researchers, advertisers, and social media platforms.
EdCuration’s mission is to get better resources into classrooms faster to increase student success. To this end, we run the Certified EdTrustees program, bringing together aspiring educational leaders to review and pilot instructional resources and provide feedback to the developers regarding how to improve those learning solutions. EdTrustees who love the piloted solutions advocate for their adoption by their school or district.
