Data science is a compelling and engaging option for many students, equipping them with the skills needed to identify patterns and extract meaningful information from large, complex data sets.

• Evaluate where data science can fit within the mathematics curriculum and consider models for implementation from other states

About the Presenter

Dr. Eric Milou is a Professor of Mathematics at Rowan University in Glassboro, NJ, where he has taught for the past 29 years. He also served as the President of the Rowan University Senate for six terms, from 2007 to 2013. In addition to his work at the university, Dr. Milou previously served as the President of the Association of Mathematics Teachers of New Jersey as well as the Program Chairperson of the 2007 NCTM annual meeting. In 2009, he was the recipient of the Max Sobel Outstanding Mathematics Educator Award. Dr. Milou earned his doctorate from Temple University in mathematics education, a master’s in mathematics from West Chester University (PA), and a BA in mathematics from Franklin & Marshall College (PA).
