It's not uncommon in math classrooms to emphasize what students are missing rather than what they bring. This edWebinar explores how an asset-based approach shifts that lens, recognizing that every student brings strengths, experiences, and resources that can serve as a foundation for new mathematical learning.
This recorded session will help educators:
- Unpack how deficit thinking limits students' access to rigorous mathematics and shapes the way they see themselves as learners
- Understand why shifting to an asset-based perspective isn't just a philosophy, it's a research-backed practice for building student confidence and mathematical identity
- Learn practical ways to put an asset-based lens into practice
This recorded edWebinar will be of interest to K-5 educators.
