About the Presenters
Dr. Natasha Ward’s doctorate is in school improvement with concentrations in educational leadership and school counseling. She also holds a master’s in teaching. As an educational consultant, behavioral change specialist, and EdConnective instructional coach, Dr. Ward’s career spans across a variety of educational sectors. While her teaching experience and mentorship skills distinguish her, Dr. Ward’s expertise lies in culturally sustaining pedagogy, mindfulness in the classroom, student autonomy, whole child teaching, teacher well-being and SEL implementation. A fun fact is that she has traveled to all seven continents!
After years as a middle and secondary school teacher in Louisiana, Philadelphia, and New York, Kia Johnson moved into administration as the dean of students at a charter school in New York City, eventually being selected as Founding Executive Director of Great Oaks Charter School in Wilmington, DE, where she served for five years. Kia is now with EdConnective as an instructional coaching leader. She has extensive experience in curriculum development, talent development, and instructional leadership. Kia is passionate about supporting educators who seek to transform student outcomes and believes great leaders and teachers are key to ensuring all students have equitable access to an excellent education. Kia earned her bachelor’s degree from Hampton University and a master’s in school leadership from Columbia University.
