Thursday, March 17, 2022 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm EDT
Presented by Melissa Williamson, Ed.D., Professional Learning Project Manager, Frog Street
Sponsored by Frog Street
This edWebinar is canceled. We will let you know if it is rescheduled.
Many PreK-aged children are faced with traumatic events and circumstances in their lives, and it has grown more severe over the last few years due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Not only is the child impacted, but their behavior often impacts other children in the classroom. What can a PreK teacher do in the classroom to help children deal with trauma?
Melissa Williamson, Ed.D. will lay out specific strategies for teachers to help children dealing with trauma. Dr. Williamson is a certified trauma professional and was Co-Chair of the Early Care Sector of the South Texas Trauma-Informed Consortium. During this edWebinar you will learn:
- The three different realms of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and the symptoms to look for in the classroom
- How to talk to children and families experiencing trauma and tips to provide trauma-sensitive support in the classroom
- The importance of resiliency and how to begin to heal
As a bonus, two edWebinar attendees will win a Frog Street virtual professional learning course on either Trauma Informed Care in the Early Childhood Setting or Strategies to Reduce Challenging Behavior. See the complete details here.
This edWebinar will be of interest to teachers of young children, school and district leaders, and education technology leaders. There will be time for questions at the end of the presentation.
