The first six weeks of school are critical for establishing routines and practices that increase academic performance, boost teacher effectiveness and satisfaction, and reduce discipline referrals. There is a way to permanently change children’s behaviors, even the children with the most difficult behaviors. Children must be both willing to learn how to behave and must know the skills of how to successfully interact with others. By addressing both of these dimensions, we can achieve success with our most demanding children. Learn the skills needed to transform children who are aggressive and defiant into cooperative members of your learning community from the start. In this edWebinar, Jill Molli, Conscious Discipline Master Instructor, will discuss:
- How to help the children change their behavior from hurtful to helpful while using strategies that literally wire their brain for self-control for the rest of their lives
- How to take daily conflicts (hitting, tattling, name calling) and turn these moments into teaching opportunities
- How to create a school family classroom where children choose to be cooperative and are motivated by caring instead of candy
- How to create an environment where even the children with the most aggressive behaviors are accepted and included as valuable members
Childcare, Head Start, and PreK through elementary teachers, and school and district leaders will benefit from attending this session. There will be time to get your questions answered after Jill’s presentation.
