Early childhood educators play a pivotal role in laying the foundation for fine motor skills, which are critical for successful handwriting and overall academic success. However, many children struggle with pencil and scissor grasp due to underdeveloped fine motor skills, which can impact their ability to write, draw, cut, and engage in other essential classroom tasks. This edWebinar is designed specifically for early childhood teachers seeking practical strategies to improve pencil grasp in young learners using fun, playful opportunities.
In this edWebinar, teachers gain an understanding of the developmental stages of pencil grasp and learn how to recognize common grasp patterns and their impact on children’s writing abilities. The session covers age-appropriate activities, interventions, and toys to use to promote fine motor strength, coordination, and proper pencil grasp development. By addressing these fine motor challenges early, preschool teachers can help young learners grip the future with confidence and set the stage for their academic growth.
This recorded edWebinar is of interest to PreK through elementary teachers and school leaders.
