About the Presenters
Laura Burke spent 15 years as a special education classroom teacher prior to earning her master’s degree in education from Regis University. She then went on to earn Principal, Special Education Director, and K-12 District Administrator’s licenses from the University of Colorado. Laura is the founder of a nonprofit organization that supports the success of students who think and learn differently, and has also served on several community organizations, including time as a City Commissioner for the Denver Commission for People with Disabilities. Laura has been a school administrator at both the building and district levels and is currently the Founding Principal of Clara Brown Entrepreneurial Academy, a public magnet school in Aurora Public Schools.
Dr. Josh Rayburn currently serves as the Chief Information Officer for Woodford County Public Schools in Versailles, Kentucky. Previously, he held the role of District STEM Learning Coach for Fayette County Public Schools in Lexington, where he worked on a mobile learning STEM bus and coached teachers in blending technology and STEM initiatives to increase student engagement. Dr. Rayburn’s teaching background includes positions as an orchestra director, robotics coach, STLP (Student Technology Leadership Program) coordinator, and digital learning coach. Passionate about STE(A)M education, he strives to provide learners of all ages with meaningful and authentic learning experiences. Dr. Rayburn resides in Lexington, Kentucky, with his wife and family.
Kiki Huckaby is a former teacher turned educational catalyst who excels at challenging the status quo by pushing educators to transform their pedagogy to meet the needs of all students. As the current Chief Impact Officer at MindSpark Learning, Kiki brings extensive experience in curriculum development and professional learning to her role. She is a firm believer that students should play an active role in their own education and that educators should facilitate an environment that empowers them to do so. Kiki regularly encourages leadership to embrace a creative culture within their buildings to create engaging learning experiences, and she is also a pioneer in problem-based learning (PBL), which embeds classrooms in real-world problems and meets federal standards in a meaningful and authentic way. Kiki earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology and elementary education from the University of Colorado at Boulder and a master’s degree in curriculum studies from the University of Northern Colorado.
