“You can do anything you want as long as you care enough. You just have to care enough to try.”

Deborah Delisle’s father spoke those words to her when she was five years old, and they’ve stayed with her through her life and career. In this webinar, Deborah spoke about things she has learned along her journey from the classroom to the highest levels of education as the U.S. Assistant Secretary of Elementary and Secondary Education. She discussed what she has learned about courage, mentorship, collaboration, and teamwork; how she increased her self-confidence and changed her self-image from participant to leader; and the importance of inspiring and motivating others. Do men and women lead differently? Deborah shared her insights on how priorities, perspectives, and personalities affect leadership styles. She also spoke about the work she is doing now as the Executive Director of ASCD, to pass these lessons on to educators everywhere, and to their students.
