DESCRIPTION:Presented by Dr. Kimberly Hinton\, Director of Coaching\, The Network for College Success (NCS)\, The University of Chicago; Shannon Shambaugh\, Equity Advancement Specialist\, Evergreen Public Schools (WA); Rachel Banas\, Director of Operations and Student Services\, West Buffalo Charter School (NY); and Dr. Sarah Gripshover\, Director of Research\, PERTS \nSponsored by PERTS \nWatch the RecordingListen to the PodcastRead the Article \nLearn more about viewing the live presentation and the recording\, earning your CE certificate\, and using our new accessibility features. \nResearch is clear: Young people learn best when schools afford them key experiences\, like a sense of belonging\, schoolwork that feels meaningful and personally relevant\, and the sense that adults in the building believe in them. Experiences like these are now taking their rightful place at the front and center of school and district leaders’ strategic visions. \nAs a result\, schools increasingly measure how their students experience school climate\, classroom learning conditions\, and academic mindsets. Yet the potential of such data is in danger of going unrealized unless districts and schools learn to leverage it effectively. Join this edLeader Panel to learn about: \n\nAn evidence-based tool to leverage student voice for continuous improvement\nResearch on three learning conditions that drive student engagement and achievement\nEasy-to-implement strategies for nurturing these learning conditions\nSuccess stories from educators who have implemented these strategies in their classrooms and schools\n\nAll viewers will receive: \n\nA soon-to-be-released field guide: From Data to Impact: Leveraging Student Voice Data for Meaningful Change\nAn infographic on the learning conditions that drive student engagement and achievement\nA practical guide for nurturing learning conditions\n\nThis recorded edLeader Panel is of interest to teachers in grades 6-12\, school and district leaders\, professional development leaders\, and instructional coaches. \n \n \nAbout the Presenters \nDr. Kimberly Hinton\, Director of Coaching for The Network for College Success (NCS)\, The University of Chicago\, has worked for over 20 years as a teacher\, school leader\, transformational coach\, and continuous improvement expert. These were the students who fueled her desire to reimagine the industrial system of schooling that is perfectly designed to get the results it currently gets: serving some while alienating and marginalizing others. After working as a special education teacher and dean of students\, Katie directed special education programs for the High Tech High network of K-12 charter schools in San Diego. \nInspired by the change that is possible at the system level when teams are energized by shared purpose\, Katie directed the High Tech High GSE’s Master’s in Educational Leadership program\, where she partnered with current and future school leaders to cultivate the dispositions\, mindsets\, and skills that are necessary for advancing equity and deeper learning in complex school systems. Katie is currently a Director of Strategic Partnerships at Learner-Centered Collaborative where she has the honor of supporting teams of educators as they reimagine schools and cultivate shared purpose. He testified before the United States Congress in 2020 to advocate for access and opportunity for all students. K-12 Dive recognized him as the Superintendent of the Year in 2020 for his advocacy and leadership to close equity gaps on a national stage. Marlon’s mission is to inspire educators to see themselves as empowered Unifiers capable of creating the types of learning experiences today’s modern learners need to thrive. \nLearn more about viewing the live presentation and the recording\, earning your CE certificate\, and using our new accessibility features. \nJoin the Student-Driven Learning community to network with educators\, participate in online discussions\, and receive invitations to upcoming edWebinars. \n\n \nThe Educating All Learners Alliance (EALA) is an uncommon coalition of organizations committed to resource sharing and community-building that supports the efforts of the education community to meet the needs of students with disabilities or learning differences.
