SUMMARY:Privacy and Safety: What if the Call is Coming From Inside the House?
DESCRIPTION:Events\n\n\n\n\nPresented by Jonathan Werner\, MLTI Ambassador Program Facilitator\, Maine Department of Education; Tali Horowitz\, Experienced Educator\, East Coast Education Director\, Common Sense Media; and James Chasse\, Infrastructure Specialist\, Learning Through Technology Team\, Maine Department of Education \nSponsored by Common Sense Education \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWatch the Recording\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLearn more about earning a CE certificate and our accessibility features. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMost district privacy and safety conversations stop at firewalls\, phishing simulations\, and IT protocol\, but the real risks that students and staff face can also live inside the network\, not just outside it. In this edWebinar\, Maine Department of Education's Jonathan Werner shares their innovative\, beyond-the-basics approach to privacy and safety protocols\, including the realistic tabletop drill scenarios they use to stress-test their systems and their people. \nThis isn't about generic IT training slides. It's about the scenarios that educators actually run into: a student sharing login credentials with a friend or a group chat screenshot that spreads faster than anyone can contain it. Hear how one district reimagined cybersecurity as a shared responsibility across IT\, instruction\, and family engagement\, and walk away with strategies you can adapt for your own school or district right away. \nLearn about: \n\nA broader definition of cybersecurity: concrete ways to expand your district's thinking beyond external hacking threats to include internal risks (student-to-student incidents\, insider misuse\, data handling gaps\, and more)\nProactive strategies for addressing internal risk: practical\, classroom-ready approaches that build digital literacy and reduce risk before it starts\nA real family engagement model: how to bring parents and caregivers into the conversation as partners in privacy and safety\, with resources you can share directly with families\n\nWhether you're an elementary to middle school classroom teacher\, tech coordinator\, or school or district administrator\, this edWebinar teaches practical\, tested strategies that you can put to work immediately. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the Presenters \nJonathan R. Werner brings his unique and diverse career path—spanning roles as a classroom teacher\, education attorney\, library and instructional technologist\, and technology integrator—to his mission of helping educators create transformative learning experiences. Now in his fourth year facilitating the Maine Department of Education’s MLTI Ambassador Program\, he has worked with more than 2\,500 educators to support their purposeful integration of technology. SUMMARY:Keeping Schools and Libraries Connected: Why E-Rate Matters
DESCRIPTION:Events\n\n\n\n\nPresented by John Harrington\, CEO of Funds For Learning; Megan Sutherland\, Chief Operating Officer\, Prince George's County Memorial Library System; Dr. LaTonya Goffney\, AASA President\, Superintendent\, Aldine Independent School District (TX); Jon Bernstein\, President and Founder/Co-Chair\, Bernstein Strategy Group/EdLiNC; and Joseph Wender\, Executive Director\, Schools\, Health\, and Libraries Broadband Coalition (SHLB)Moderated by Noelle Ellerson Ng\, Chief Advocacy & Governance Officer\, AASA \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWatch the Recording\n\n\n\nListen to the Podcast\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLearn more about earning a CE certificate and our accessibility features. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFor nearly 30 years\, E-Rate has made broadband affordable for schools and libraries. This year\, the FCC is asking whether it still should. \nOn June 25\, 2026\, the Commission adopted a top-to-bottom review of the program (FCC 26-41\, WC Docket No. 26-133). Among the questions on the table: whether E-Rate should be narrowed\, reoriented\, or limited to rural communities only; which services should remain eligible\, including internal connections and special construction; how CIPA should be interpreted; and new conditions on how students use funded networks. Nothing has been decided. What the FCC hears from the field this fall is what shapes the rules that follow. \nWatch advocates and experts already engaged in this proceeding in a working session on what the FCC actually asked\, what each scenario would mean for your connectivity and your budget\, and how to get your district's experience into the federal record. Comments are due October 13\, 2026\, with reply comments due November 12. \nViewers will leave this edLeader Panel able to explain the proceeding to a board or cabinet\, identify which line items in their own budget are exposed\, and file or support a comment before the window closes. \nThis recorded edLeader Panel is important for any educator who is concerned about funding and maintaining internet connectivity for schools and libraries. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the Presenters \nJohn Harrington is CEO of Funds For Learning\, where he helps K-12 schools and public libraries secure E-rate funding for internet access and Wi-Fi. As new student-facing AI solutions emerge and public debate intensifies\, education leaders face an urgent question: How can schools harness the potential of AI while preserving what matters most about teaching and learning? \nJoin Aryan Bhadouria\, CEO and Co-founder of TeachShare\, and Jenni Kilmore\, Director of Professional Learning at Vista Higher Learning\, for an engaging edWebinar on the future of AI-powered education. \nTogether\, they examine the latest research\, explore competing predictions about the future of schools\, and discuss both the promise and the potential pitfalls of widespread AI adoption. Most importantly\, they share strategies for helping district and school leaders build a clear vision for AI and guide educators through meaningful\, responsible implementation. \nWhether you're cautiously optimistic or deeply skeptical\, you leave with a practical framework for understanding where AI is headed—and how your school community can prepare for what's next. This edWebinar is of interest to K-12 school leaders\, district leaders\, and education technology leaders. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the Presenters \nAryan Bhadouria is the Co-founder and CEO of TeachShare\, an education technology company helping educators strengthen and redefine tiered instruction. Founded in 2024\, TeachShare now serves hundreds of thousands of educators and has become the most technically sophisticated AI system built for instruction—going well beyond generic chat tools by grounding every output in a district's adopted curriculum\, applying editable guardrails\, and generating pacing plans\, differentiated materials\, and formative assessments that feed back into reteaching and extension. It works across every subject and grade band\, from core content to world languages and multilingual instruction\, and is built to fit the curriculum a district has already chosen rather than ask teachers to work around it. Aryan studied computer science at the University of California\, Berkeley\, where he served as a class facilitator in the College of Engineering\, before leaving to build TeachShare full time. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJennifer Kilmore is the Director of Professional Learning at Vista Higher Learning. An experienced educator and education industry leader\, she has expertise in world language instruction\, curriculum development\, professional learning\, blended and digital learning\, and educational technology. Prior to joining Vista Higher Learning\, Jennifer held leadership roles at Carnegie Learning and Houghton Mifflin Harcourt and spent more than seven years with the Arkansas School for Mathematics\, Sciences\, and the Arts\, where she served as a French Instructor\, Curriculum Coordinator\, and LMS Administrator. Jennifer holds a Master of Arts in Second Languages\, with a focus on second language acquisition and pedagogy\, from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and a Bachelor of Science in Education in French from Bowling Green State University. \n\n\nJoin the Artificial Intelligence in Education community to network with educators\, participate in online discussions\, receive invitations to upcoming edWebinars\, and view recordings of previous programs to earn CE certificates. \nLearn more about earning a CE certificate and our accessibility features. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nVista\, the K–12 division of Vista Higher Learning\, is a leading publisher and edtech provider solely dedicated to language and literacy instruction. SUMMARY:Co-Regulation Strategies for Early Childhood Educators: The Calm You Bring
DESCRIPTION:Presented by Kristy Rauch\, Senior Manager of Educational Partnerships\, Collaborative Classroom; Lisa Davis\, Former Educator\, Current Professional Learning Consultant\, Collaborative Classroom; and Lindsay Miner\, M.S.\, Report Review and Certification Specialist\, McCormick Institute for Early Childhood at National Louis University \nSponsored by Collaborative Classroom \nWatch the Recording \nLearn more about earning a CE certificate and our accessibility features. \nBefore young children can regulate themselves\, they need regulated adults—and the early childhood educators who care for them are stretched thin. According to the 2024 RAND American Pre-K Teacher Survey\, Pre-K teachers experience workplace stress at nearly twice the rate of adults in comparable occupations. \nThis edWebinar equips early childhood educators and leaders with both the research foundation and the practical tools to build regulation into their environments\, routines\, and relationships. Viewers: \n\nBuild foundational knowledge of self-regulation and co-regulation—and understand why co-regulation is not optional\, but the foundation that makes self-regulation possible\nExplore strategies for adult regulation\, including mindfulness practices that educators can use in the moment and throughout the day\nLearn how to design environments that reduce dysregulation and support calm\nDiscover instructional approaches that center on the principle: a dysregulated brain cannot learn\nStrengthen daily interactions with children through emotion coaching\, warm\, responsive relationships\, and consistent\, gentle boundaries\nUnderstand the role of reflective supervision in sustaining educator well-being and creating a trickle-down effect that benefits children and families\n\nDrawing on research-based frameworks\, viewers explore how educators and leaders can become steady co-regulation partners for one another and for the children in their care. The presenters dive deeper into the “growth loop”: the powerful\, reciprocal cycle in which co-regulation between early childhood educators and children creates emotional equilibrium and regulated spaces where everyone can thrive. \nWhether you are an early childhood classroom teacher\, caregiver\, instructional coach\, or program leader\, this edWebinar offers renewed confidence and ready-to-use tools and techniques for “downloading calm” to every child and colleague in your care. \n \n \nAbout the Presenters \nKristy Rauch is the Senior Manager of Educational Partnerships for Collaborative Classroom. SUMMARY:How to Reach Every Learner in Social Studies: Active Learning Strategies That Work
DESCRIPTION:Presented by Stephanie Quarantotto\, Former Educator\, Current Account Manager\, TCI (Teachers’ Curriculum Institute); and Michael Washington\, Former Educator\, Current Account Manager\, TCI (Teachers’ Curriculum Institute) \nSponsored by Teachers’ Curriculum Institute (TCI) \nWatch the Recording \nLearn more about earning a CE certificate and our accessibility features. \nGive every student access to the same rigorous content without rewriting your lessons. Reaching every student is one of the hardest parts of teaching social studies. Students come in with different reading levels and background knowledge. How do you get all of them into the same content and learning the same skills? \nActive learning strategies change the entry point. One strategy allows students to experience a version of an event before they read about it. They feel the crowding\, the pressure\, or the difficulty of a decision firsthand. That gives the whole class a shared reference point\, so students who came in without much background knowledge now have something to attach it to. It also gives them a reason to read\, because they want to know whether what they felt matches what actually happened. The content stays rigorous\, and the discussion that follows is richer because more students have something to say. \nIn this edWebinar\, we explore active learning strategies and run through some examples together. We break them down to see why the strategy worked\, what it asked of students\, and why it opened the lesson up. We cover: \n\nWhat makes a strategy active\, and why that reaches more students in social studies\nHow a short\, structured experience builds historical understanding\, not just engagement\nWhy the debrief is where the learning happens\, and what to ask\n\nThis edWebinar is of interest to K–12 social studies teachers\, instructional coaches\, and school and district leaders. \n \n \nAbout the Presenters \nWith over 13 years of experience in K-5 general and special education\, Stephanie Quarantotto brings a wealth of classroom expertise to her role as Account Manager with TCI. Before joining TCI\, Stephanie taught kindergarten and fourth grade in Southeast Pennsylvania\, where she served on several pilot committees and was a prominent member of her district’s teachers’ union. A firm believer that all students can learn\, Stephanie is passionate about providing the right balance of rigor and productive struggle to help learners overcome challenges. She finds great excitement in offering differentiation options and witnessing her students’ success and growth each year. As an enthusiastic TCI user in her own classroom\, Stephanie now enjoys collaborating with districts to support and refine their learning goals. She thrives on showcasing engaging program components and lessons that reach and inspire all learners. \n \nMichael Washington is an Account Manager for TCI with over 22 years of experience in education. SUMMARY:Teaching History Through Decisions\, Tradeoffs\, and Uncertainty: Students as Historical Decision Makers
DESCRIPTION:Presented by Kevin Parkinson\, Ed.D.\, Former Educator\, Current Education Senior Manager\, Alliance for Decision Education \nSponsored by Alliance for Decision Education \nWatch the Recording \nLearn more about earning a CE certificate and our accessibility features. \nHistory is often taught through the outcomes of decisions\, yet some of the greatest learning opportunities come from examining how those decisions were made. Why did historical figures choose one course of action over another? What information did they have\, what uncertainties did they face\, and what tradeoffs shaped their choices? When students grapple with these questions\, history becomes more than a sequence of events. It becomes an opportunity for students to develop the habits of thoughtful decision makers. \nThis edWebinar explores Decision Education\, the teaching and learning of skillful judgment formation and decision making\, through the lens of history. Informed by decades of decision science research\, Decision Education equips students with durable decision-making skills such as evaluating evidence\, considering uncertainty\, recognizing competing perspectives\, weighing tradeoffs\, and making reasoned judgments. By weaving these practices into existing history instruction\, educators can deepen historical understanding while helping students build skills that extend far beyond the classroom. Viewers explore practical strategies\, classroom examples\, and guidance for integrating Decision Education into history instruction without the need for a full curriculum overhaul. \nViewers explore how Decision Education: \n\nBrings history to life by engaging students as historical decision makers rather than passive observers\nDeepens historical thinking by examining evidence\, uncertainty\, competing perspectives\, and tradeoffs\nStrengthens critical thinking\, perspective taking\, and reasoned argumentation\nSupports thoughtful\, informed civic participation\nEquips students with practical decision-making skills they can apply in school\, work\, relationships\, and everyday life\n\nLearning objectives: \n\nExplain how Decision Education enhances historical inquiry instruction\nIdentify key Decision Education competencies and how they align with historical-thinking practices\nApply practical strategies to integrate historical decision-making activities into existing social studies lessons\nRecognize how analyzing difficult historical decisions can strengthen students’ critical thinking and decision-making skills\n\nThis edWebinar is of interest to middle and high school teachers\, school leaders\, and district leaders. \n \n \nAbout the Presenter \nKevin Parkinson\, Ed.D.\, is the Education Senior Manager at the Alliance for Decision Education. Dr. Parkinson has years of experience as a teacher and principal in traditional district and public charter schools\, as well as with educational nonprofit organizations. He has also served on the Mississippi Department of Education Principal Advisory Council. SUMMARY:MTSS as a Schoolwide Operating System: Strategies for Coherence and Implementation Success
DESCRIPTION:Presented by Dr. Stephanie Stollar\, Founder\, Stephanie Stollar Consulting and The Reading Science Academy; Linda Diamond\, Author\, Current Executive Director\, Evidence Advocacy Center; and Katharine Bonasera\, Former Principal\, Current Senior Manager of Educational Partnerships\, Collaborative Classroom \nSponsored by Collaborative Classroom \nWatch the Recording \nLearn more about earning a CE certificate and our accessibility features. \nThis edWebinar is for elementary leaders seeking to transform student outcomes and build sustainable\, system-level improvements\, focused on literacy\, through an MTSS framework. \nWhile MTSS is often associated with isolated interventions\, a high-functioning framework serves as a schoolwide operating system—the foundation for how a school uses and aligns resources to meet the needs of all learners. This edWebinar empowers leaders to transition from reactive troubleshooting toward a proactive\, systemic approach. \nThrough a facilitated conversation\, we explore “pre-mortem” strategies: ways to resolve systemic barriers before they impact student growth. We also examine the necessity of instructional coherence\, ensuring alignment across tiers rather than introducing conflicting intervention routines that increase cognitive load for vulnerable learners. \nLearning objectives include: \n\nExpand the Framework: Establish MTSS as a comprehensive organizational strategy rather than a checklist or sorting mechanism\nThe Proactive Pivot: Apply pre-mortem planning to build robust systems and unify instructional efforts\nEnsure Coherence: Align instructional language and routines across all tiers to create a seamless\, predictable student experience\n\nViewers gain practical insights for designing tiered literacy improvement plans that bridge the gap between professional learning and student outcomes. We discuss sustainable strategies for universal screening and grade-level planning to foster long-term instructional success. \nThis edWebinar is of interest to elementary school and district leaders. \n \n \nAbout the Presenters \nDr. Stephanie Stollar has dedicated over 30 years to improving literacy outcomes through evidence-based practices.
