Spend an hour with innovative young educator Celina Bertoncini, ninth-grade STEAM teacher at BELA, the all-girls Brooklyn Academy for Emerging Leaders. Viewers of this recorded edWebinar will learn all about this school’s unique focus on preparing young women for college and career, and their integration of a technology-rich curriculum. Ms. Celina B., as her students call her, will share insights into BELA’s STEAM program, their curriculum’s focus, and the art activities and projects that open both avenues of artistic expression and mastery of technology skills for her students.
Viewers will have the opportunity to gather tips and ideas for integrative STEAM projects and learn how BELA works to address the unique and individual needs of students who may not have had access to technology tools prior to becoming BELA students. The school’s motto, “I believe. I can. I will,” is an everyday inspiration for students, teachers and now this edWebinar’s attendees.

About the Presenter
Celina Bertoncini is an artist and educator in Brooklyn, NY who seeks to use STEAM and nutrition education to empower and inspire others to reach their full wellness and creative potential. As a New York State classroom teacher in the process of receiving a certificate in special education, Celina is building the STEAM curriculum at the all-girls public charter school, Brooklyn Emerging Leaders Academy (BELA). Celina has a bachelor’s in film and TV from Boston University and a master’s degree in middle childhood education from Relay Graduate School of Education. In addition to teaching STEAM in a physical classroom, she also teaches online classes in traditional/digital drawing and animation through TakeLessons’ and Outschool’s online platforms. With a certification from the T. Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition, Celina also volunteers as a mentor and educator for Plant Powered Metro New York. You can find her lifting weights in the gym or baking vegan cupcakes in her spare time.
