What does it look and sound like when students are engaged in authentic academic discussions? How can educators support students to engage in these rich conversations, not just to deepen their conceptual understanding but to help create a sense of belonging in a classroom community?

Watch this edWebinar with Rebecca Abbott, Professional Learning and Literacy Lead from the Science Curriculum Development Team at UC Berkeley’s Lawrence Hall of Science, to explore these questions. In this edWebinar, we analyze examples of K-8 students engaging in authentic practices of science and engineering as they work to figure out real-world phenomena, and we discuss discourse strategies that can apply across curricular areas.

This recorded edWebinar is of interest to K-8 teachers, librarians, school and district leaders, STEM coordinators, summer school coordinators, and technology coordinators.
