Build Stamina

Presented by Nancy Duggin, Certified Reading Specialist
Sponsored by Learning Ally

This edWebinar has been canceled. We do our best to try to avoid schedule changes, but sometimes it’s unavoidable. We apologize for the inconvenience.

If you attend the live session, you’ll be emailed a CE certificate within 24 hours of the edWebinar. If you view the recording and would like a CE certificate, join the Empowering Struggling Readers community and go to the edWebinar Archives folder to take the CE quiz.

Stamina is doing something for an extended period of time without getting tired or giving up. Struggling readers have a hard time building stamina because reading can be hard or frustrating. As educators, we desire to find and implement more effective reading strategies to equip struggling readers to build their stamina and habit of reading in their journey to develop a love for the printed word.

In this edWebinar, join certified reading specialist Nancy Duggin to learn more about some easy-to-use, effective strategies for building stamina and increasing the habit of reading for those who struggle. You will learn how to:

  • Combine direct instruction and strategy instruction to increase reading stamina and habit
  • Easily implement research-based strategies for increasing word recognition skills and overall comprehension
  • Evaluate your own practices to discover ways to increase the time students spend engaged in reading to become successful and confident readers

There will be time to get your questions answered after Nancy’s presentation. This session is designed for K-8 administrators, principals, teachers, librarians, and special education directors and teachers, and will serve to encourage and better equip educators in raising reading achievement.
