Kevin MahoneyAbout the Presenter

Dr. Kevin Mahoney currently serves as Assistant Professor of Education at Saint Joseph’s College of Maine on Sebago Lake. He has been a teacher of elementary mathematics since 1989. In 2011, he became the first American to investigate Singapore’s elementary teaching methods at the doctoral level, publishing original academic research on the effects of Singaporean pedagogy on American math students. Dr. Mahoney consults and trains in schools across the U.S. as well as in Canada, Europe, India, and Mexico, specializing in the unique challenges facing administrators, teachers, and students as they implement Singaporean elementary mathematics curricula.

 

Christopher CoyneAbout the Host

Chris Coyne is the National Education Consultant for Marshall Cavendish Education. Chris is a veteran educator with more than 25 years of exemplary service. He has taught at the elementary and middle school levels at urban as well as suburban schools in the US. Chris also has experience in school building leadership, having served as principal at the elementary level. He has worked with numerous districts and schools across the U.S. and internationally as they implement Singapore Math®, while also supporting current users of Math in Focus® and Primary Mathematics. He continuously presents at local, national, and international teacher conferences on the Mathematics curriculum from Singapore. Chris has visited and worked with schools, classrooms, administrators, and teachers in Singapore and continues to work closely with the Marshall Cavendish Institute in Singapore to develop and deliver professional learning to support teachers and students.
