Albert Vilalta RieraAbout the Presenters

Albert Vilalta Riera is one of Innovamat’s learning experts. Currently, he is a part-time professor in the Math Education Department of the Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona (UAB), where he trains pre-service teachers while conducting the last research for his Ph.D. He combines his university role with government teacher training in Spain and, above all, the conceptualization of Innovamat’s curriculum and activities.

 

Dr. Hollyce SchoeppDr. Hollyce Schoepp is the K-12 STEM supervisor for Vernon Township School District in Vernon, New Jersey. She earned a Ph.D. from Texas Tech University in curriculum and instruction of STEM education and a Master of Science degree in biology from the University of Maryland, College Park. Dr. Schoepp brings over 20 years of educational experience serving as a teacher, mentor, educational leader, and professional development facilitator. She understands how to meet students (and teachers) where they are and how to foster engagement in the classroom. An advocate for the researched-based incorporation of concepts of everyday resilience into the classroom ecosystem, Dr. Schoepp’s current focus involves using evidence-based practices in the creation of high-quality learning environments that result in the development of durable academic assets and cumulative learning.

Bernat Portell

Bernat Portell is leading Innovamat’s expansion in the U.S., Italy, and Brazil. He has spent his career working with teachers and school and district leaders around the world to facilitate pedagogical change. He earned his BSc in international management from Bocconi University (Italy) and studied at the University of Notre Dame (U.S.) and the National University of Singapore.
