Step into any early childhood classroom and you’ll find toddlers who have been drilled the alphabet at home, preschoolers whose parents read to them every day, and youngsters who have never been read to until they walk into the classroom. As teachers, we open our arms wide and welcome all of these children, even as we mentally take note of their diverse abilities. Then it hits us—to reach each one of these wonderful kids, we need a huge reservoir of developmentally appropriate activities to set the stage for early literacy.

Just for early childhood educators, this edWebinar is chock full of fun, just-right activities that build oral language and early reading and writing skills. Amy and Allison break down the hows and whys of early literacy into bite-size pieces to help busy teachers support our youngest learners’ individual development without pushing them too hard. Viewers will leave with ideas for creating a literacy-rich environment; literacy activities for whole-class, small-group, and independent learning; strategies for building an effective home-school connection; and much more.

This recorded edWebinar is a must-attend for teachers of daycare, pre-school, and kindergarten.
