English Learners (EL) account for more than 4.7 million public school students in the United States. This growing population faces a myriad of obstacles to not only gain English proficiency, but also to succeed academically.

EL students cannot put off learning academic content to gain English fluency—they would fall too far behind their peers. How can educators foster language learning while helping students stay on track academically?

In this edWebinar, Maya Goodall, Senior Director of EL Curriculum at Lexia Learning, shares techniques to create conversations in the classroom for newcomers and advanced EL students. Maya has dedicated her career to bringing practical solutions to classrooms that help students become confidently bilingual. During this one-hour session, learn:

  • How to identify the language structure needed for students to participate in productive conversations
  • Techniques that develop academic discussion and encourage the use of collaborative conversation

PreK through high school teachers and school and district leaders will benefit from watching this recorded session.
