Faye Hagerty, director of library services for the North East Independent School District in Texas, shared her experience increasing reading rates by 200 percent through the district’s digital library platform.

Faye explored the factors that have been critical to the district’s digital success, including:

• Setting goals and promotion
• Student and staff training

This webinar is designed for librarians, curriculum and building administrators as well as anyone else interested in using e-readers to increase reading rates.

About the Presenter 

Faye Hagerty currently serves as the Director for Library Services in North East ISD, the second largest district in San Antonio, Texas. Faye coordinates the library program across 68 campuses, which range in enrollment from 300 to 3,000 students. She serves as a reference source for campus administrators in all matters pertaining to libraries and is responsible for planning for professional growth of district librarians through meetings, workshops, conferences, and presentations. Under Faye’s leadership, library programs in North East Independent School District exemplify the phrase, “future ready.” She has led the charge to transform school libraries to create flexible, responsive environments for students and staff. Faye regularly presents to librarians, classroom teachers, and administrators on digital resources, librarian appraisals, library annual reports, library transformation, and maker spaces, and she also has spoken to state administrators on accessing and utilizing eBooks and audiobooks.
