How does media impact youth and how do youth impact media? The entertainment media that tweens and teens spend hours consuming shape their attitudes and behaviors, and as such can be an effective way to impact social learning. Meanwhile, technology, social media, and device accessibility have created a generation ready to share, critique, and be heard. This edWebinar focuses on positive youth development, entertainment media, and scientific research.

In this edWebinar, Dr. Yalda Uhls, Founder and Executive Director of the Center for Scholars and Storytellers, presents research on:

  • The impact of media-making on cognitive development
  • The critical matter of helping kids grow up healthy and safe in the 21st century
  • Recognizing the perspective of all media literacy stakeholders (industry, parents, academics), while speaking to the research and facts
  • The impact of technology on children and how to break down issues so they are actionable for educators

This recorded edWebinar will be of particular benefit to K-12 teachers, librarians, and administrators.
