About the Presenter

Dr. Sharon Corkrum’s 34 years in public education gives her direct experience and knowledge of the joys and challenges of teaching elementary, middle, and secondary students. Sharon also served as an elementary principal where she guided teachers to implement standards-based reading and writing curriculum and instruction across the grade levels. At the district level as a director and assistant superintendent, Sharon was responsible for district-wide implementation of K-12 English Language Arts standards-based curriculum, instruction, and assessment and oversaw the implementation of the district-wide implementation including strengthening teachers’ instructional content and delivery skills. For the past few years, she has served as an educational consultant and has led writing teams to develop grade-level, standards-based writing curriculum. Sharon still trains and coaches teachers to maintain her currency with what is happening in classrooms nationally. Sharon lives with her husband, Bob, and Toddi, the Cairn Terrier in Southern California.
