Watch the Recording

The Hour of Code is a global movement that reaches hundreds of thousands of people each year: kids, parents, and educators of all ages. The hour, which is actually a full week—December 3-9th—is a ripe opportunity to introduce or extend kids’ interest in coding and robotics. Code.org shares that although 90% of parents want their kids to study computer science, only 35% of high schools teach it. And we know that such instruction needs to start even earlier than high school.

In this edWebinar, review some of the current obstacles and opportunities for introducing the value of a computer science education for all. The Hour of Code is the perfect excuse to bring coding into your K-12 classroom as computer science principles are foundational in preparing kids for tomorrow’s workforce. Code.org offers tons of turnkey resources aligned to your curricula, so engage your students in bite-sized and long-term activities to reinvigorate their enthusiasm for all things STEM and STEAM related. Take the Hour of Code to the next level as you discover multiple ways to involve your students and their families throughout the week and beyond!

This recorded session will be of particular benefit to preK-2 teachers, SPED educators, librarians, tech specialists, administrators, and makerspace facilitators.
