Constructing a Maker’s Mindset with DIY Materials

Presented by Darri Stephens, Director, Community Marketing, Wonder Workshop; and Victoria Davila, Industrial Designer, Wonder Workshop
Sponsored by Wonder Workshop

Watch the Recording

In today’s digital world, the art of ideation and tinkering still begs for hands-on construction. Craft sticks, pipe cleaners, and toilet paper tubes are not just for kindergartners. There is something just so satisfying about prototyping an idea, big or small, from do-it-yourself materials.

The 4 C’s are all about preparing today’s learners for tomorrow’s workplace. In this edWebinar, learn more about how to embrace a maker’s mindset, popular in makerspaces and fablabs across the globe. Darri Stephens, Director of Community Marketing for Wonder Workshop, and Victoria Davila, Industrial Designer for Wonder Workshop, share how you can embrace components of design thinking in your everyday teaching while encouraging aspects of project-based learning and authentic assessment. Hear about tips to optimize your room environment for such active, collaborative work. Plus, encourage the idea of grit and “failing forward” in your students; it’s never too late to learn!

PreK-2 teachers, SPED educators, librarians, tech specialists, administrators, and makerspace facilitators will benefit from watching this recorded session.
