How do you determine the primary goals for a student with autism? Such students may have a variety of skill areas to be addressed, including communication, academics, self-care, and social and leisure skills. In this edWebinar, Nina Finkler shares ways to identify and assess skills to plan goals for students with autism. She will discuss different methods of choosing goals, including standardized measures and observation, and review skill areas that should not be left out when planning an educational program. This recorded edWebinar will be of interest to preK through high school teachers, school and district leaders, therapists, and specialists.
About the Presenter
Nina Finkler, M.Ed., LDT/C, BCBA is the president of Nina Finkler Autism Services, LLC based in East Windsor, New Jersey. Nina has 25 years of experience working in the field of autism. Her experience includes extensive practical application of applied behavior analysis, curriculum development, professional/parent training, consultation, and assessment. She has presented at both the state and national levels on various topics including effective teaching strategies for students with autism, behavior management strategies, and educational assessment. She holds a master’s degree in special education from Rutgers University and is a New Jersey licensed Learning Consultant and a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. Nina is on the advisory board of National Autism Resources.
