edWeb Releases 2022 Guide for Best Practices in Virtual Professional Learning
edWeb.net has released its 2022 Guide for Best Practices in Virtual Professional Learning, providing a framework, tools, and resources that engage a wider community of educators in timely professional learning. Virtual professional learning expands access and choice to meet individual needs, help school districts achieve their goals, and improve student learning and well-being.
Virtual professional learning creates more opportunity for peer-to-peer learning and the sharing of information and experiences to cope with rapid change and crises. Teachers, administrators, and educators at all levels have discovered that virtual professional learning can provide more flexibility, greater access to knowledge and experts, and more choice to meet individual educator needs and interests.
edWeb’s 2022 Virtual Professional Learning Framework identifies nine best practices that are grouped into 3Cs of professional learning—communication, content, and customization. The practices are aligned to activities educators, schools, and districts can do, all for free, with edWeb.
The guide is informed by edWeb’s practical experience hosting online professional learning for over 10 years, edWeb’s annual survey on teacher professional learning with five years of data, edWeb case studies, the research by many other organizations working in this area, and review by our advisory board of education leaders.
edWeb is the Winner of the 2022 EdTech Award from EdTech Digest for Professional Development Learning Solution, and is a Finalist for the 2022 CODiE Award for Best Professional Learning Solution for Educators (winner to be announced in June).
Lisa Schmucki, the founder and CEO of edWeb.net, commented, “I’m so thankful that our many years of experience as an online social network and host of online professional learning made it possible for us to provide much-needed information and support during the pandemic. These experiences also helped to show the value of virtual professional learning, so we’re happy to share this guide and summary of all we have learned.”
